Walking through a Japanese city, one encounters familiar designs and repeating interfaces. Japan has got 4,045,800 automatic service machines – roughly half of them are beverage vending machines. They can play music, provide access to WiFi, and of course offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. They shine in the dark and you can find one literally at every street corner, even in the countryside. It is no surprise this machine turned into an icon of Japanese pop culture. I wanted to see if I can build a neural network that can create new "automated landscapes". This video was created with a dataset of 400 images. I trained with StyleGAN2-ADA for roughly three days.
